Our start in Gordon Setters was in the late 1960's with a registered Gordon Setter named Count of Blackmore. Sharon was immediately taken with these regal dogs. Four years later she bought a female named Jennifer Gay Lady, who was out of the famous hunting Gordon, Tanny Bay. Sharon searched for a suitable stud dog to breed her to. That litter produced, Am/Can Ch O'Hillock's Divine Sarah who was co-owned with Stephanie Walter (Heatherhill kennel). Sarah produced MBISS/BIS Ch Heatherhill's Battlestar; our foundation dog. Stephanie remained an integral part of the Hillock team helping us produce these wonderful dogs until she passed away in 2020.
As breeders of AKC Gordon Setters since 1970, we are committed to producing puppies that are healthy family pets, hunting companions and of course the next generation of top show dogs for our program. We carefully plan each litter based on the AKC standard, health, and temperament.
Our Gordon Setter puppies are raised on an impressive 125 combined acres. We have built our entire lives around making sure our dogs have plenty of room for exercise and mental stimulation. We custom built our home to include an entire wing of the house completely dedicated to the dogs. When we moved here in 1969, it was exclusively to have enough room for our dogs and horses.
We have bred and shown over 80 champions which include:
- Multiple Best In Show winners
- Multiple National Specialty winners
- Multiple AKC Eukanuba / Royal Canin winners
- Gordon Setters consistently ranked in the top 20 in the country when shown
At the American Kennel Club's 100th anniversary Centennial Show in Philadelphia, our dog was awarded Best of Breed and a Sporting Group 4 over 127 other Gordon Setter Specials.
My Mom was an AKC licensed All-Breed Handler and I started showing when I was just 4 years old. I was able to learn about many different breeds, their temperaments, grooming, and how to handle properly in the ring. This is truly a lifelong family endeavor!
